七宝焼って？
七宝焼はガラス質の釉薬が織りなす色の芸術です。金属（一般的には比較的安価な銅を使いますが金や銀などでも作れます）の台に釉薬を盛り、800°c前後の電気炉に入れて溶けるまで調整します 。 絵画に比べ 長期間 色あせないこと 、他の焼き物とは異なり 何回も 色を重ね 焼成出来る事が特徴と言えます
What is Cloisonné Enamel?
Cloisonné enamel is an art form that showcases the beauty of colors created by glassy glaze. It involves applying glaze onto a metal base (commonly copper due to its affordability, but gold or silver can also be used), then firing it in an electric kiln at around 800°C until the glaze melts and fuses. Compared to paintings, it has the advantage of maintaining its colors over an extended period without fading. Unlike other types of ceramics, Cloisonné enamel allows for multiple layers of color to be applied and fired repeatedly, creating unique and intricate designs.
七宝焼は唯一無二の色
七宝の釉薬はガラスと同じで主な原料は珪石です。これを粉末状にして使います。このため「釉薬を盛る」「釉薬をのせる」「釉薬をさす」という表現が使われます。釉薬を何回も重ねて焼成可能ですが、絵の具のように白で焼いて次に赤を焼いてもピンクにはなりません。そして釉薬は不透、半透、透明などの種類があります。色を発色させる顔料は金属の酸化物なので金属の性質によって一つ一つの声質も違います。 釉薬をのせる厚さ、炉内の温度、焼く時間で異なってきます。つまり重ねて焼成を繰り返す回数が多くなるほど微妙に色が混ざり合うので同じものを作るのがほとんど不可能になります。
The Unique Colors of Cloisonné Enamel
The glaze used in Cloisonné enamel is similar to glass, with silica as its main ingredient. This glaze is used in a powdered form, which is why expressions like "applying glaze," "placing glaze," and "adding glaze" are commonly used. The glaze can be layered and fired multiple times, but unlike paint, if you fire white first and then red, it will not result in pink. Additionally, glazes come in various types, including opaque, semi-transparent, and transparent.
The pigments that give the glaze its color are metal oxides, meaning the properties of each color differ depending on the type of metal used. The thickness of the glaze applied, the kiln temperature, and the firing duration also affect the final result. This means that as the layers and firing repetitions increase, the colors subtly blend together, making it nearly impossible to create the exact same piece again.

違う色や違う性質の釉薬を 重ね、焼成を繰り返すことで微妙な色合い質感が生まれます。唯一無二の作品が誕生するわけです。 750度から950度の炉で溶かす作業が独自の輝きを放ち、色の混ざり合い自体が1つの表現となり作品に命を吹き込んでいます。 それぞれの作品が語る色の物語は 作り手の技術だけでなく偶然がもたらす 味わいを同時に感じさせるでしょう。
About the Vivid Colors in Detail
By layering glazes of different colors and properties and repeatedly firing them, subtle hues and textures are created, giving birth to one-of-a-kind works of art. The process of melting the glaze in a kiln at temperatures ranging from 750°C to 950°C produces a unique brilliance. The blending of colors itself becomes a form of expression, breathing life into each piece.
The story told by the colors in each work reflects not only the artisan's skill but also the serendipitous beauty brought about by chance. This interplay creates a depth of character that can be both intentional and accidental, enriching the viewer's experience of the artwork.
七宝の技法と歴史
七宝焼は人類が火を使用する事を覚えた古代文明の歴史と共に始まりました。
一番有名なのはツタンカーメンの金の被り物の一部に使われているそうです。
七宝焼の 技法を大別すると真鍮や銀線を焼き込む 有線 七宝 （ これはアジア圏で広まりました） ヨーロッパでは、無線七宝が普及しました。 キリスト教など 宗教をバックに華やかな色彩は 大いにもてはやされました 。 日本の最古の七宝は飛鳥文化の古墳から出土した無線七宝ですが、 遣唐使がもたらした 有線七宝が江戸時代まで 一子相伝の秘宝として 珍重されました。 明治時代 、ドイツから無線 七宝と扱いやすい 透明釉薬が入って、 七宝焼は 一般大衆の手に移ってきました。 それ以降 銀箔 金箔を使ったり マーブル技法などを用いたアクセサリー。 風景画でよく使われる 書き割り など 現在に至るまで様々な技法が開発されています。 七宝焼 は古くて新しい工芸と言えます。
右上の写真で、不透明色が模様を描いているのはマーブル技法、 一見ブラックオパールのように奥から別な色が発色しているのは銀箔を入れたものです。 下は有線七宝のサンプルです。

これらのパネルは、村山市の公共施設に常設展示されており、訪れるすべての人々に美の体験を提供しています。

それを共有する喜びを実感しています。地元の美を支える一員として、私たちはこれからも地域に根ざした活動を展開していく所存です。
